Mustang Giugiaro

Mustang Giugiaro concept — a one-off design study by Fabrizio Giugiaro, styling director of Italdesign. Ford officials aren’t saying anything, but there’s speculation in the automotive that Giugiaro concept might preview some aspects of the next-generation ‘Stang. http://images.leftlanenews.com/conte...ro-concept.jpg http://images.leftlanenews.com/conte...-concept-1.jpg

Visually, the Mustang by Giugiaro appears more compact than the production car, thanks to a reduction of the rear overhang and a signature Giugiaro “trick” of tapering the angles on the car to the limit of its mechanical outlines. The vibrant orange concept is wider than the production version. The Giugiaros added 30 millimeters to the front, gradually expanding the width by a full 80 millimeters toward the rear.

The 500 horsepower car features a single curved glass panel that bridges the windshield and rear window, serving as the concept’s roof. Produced by Solutia of Detroit, the panel is made from a special type of crystal that filters out 100 percent of UVA rays while providing unfettered vista views. The car’s doors open vertically, with hinges at the base of the upright A-pillar.

i was just pointing out that it looks REALLY similiar to the new camaro coming out.. :)

even the interior is pretty darn close..

dohp 07-07-2008 06:36 PM

no it's not in production, i just saw it in Detriot and online a some other shows i believe, but it's not a car that was realeased in the last week or anything, it's been around (that car) since late '06

I like it, other then the lambo doors, or the glass roof.
I watched the interview on tv about this car.

In other articles it is stated that Ford emphasizes this car has nothing to do with the new generation Mustang. Which is planned for 2010 by the way and would make this a very early concept. And for a car that leans so heavily on the current model that would not make too much sense to me. Technically it is just a current Mustang with a tuned engine by Ford Racing (with some GT parts) and a lowered suspension kit which is also available for the current Mustang.

I think it is just nice publicity to keep the Mustang in the news with the new Chevy and Dodge muscle cars coming closer to production.

I see truckloads of the new Dodge Challengers heading along the 401 out of Brampton. The mustang is still the cheapest modern muslce car out there. Bring on the Chevy's and Dodge's. If anything Ford should redesign the back end in a couple of years for those dodge and chevy guys so that they don't get sick and tired of looking at the same rear end all the time! But hell they won't see them that long anyways! Lol!:laughhard

nice concept. The Giugiaros added 30 millimeters to the front, gradually expanding the width by a full 80 millimeters toward the rear.

TOPLSFOX 04-03-2009 06:04 PM

That think is awful,...... very unimpressed.

20gt00 04-03-2009 06:16 PM

^^^I agree!

1low03gt 04-03-2009 06:31 PM

Well......,look at it closely, you can see some of the visual "Q's" in the up coming 2010 GT,the front, side chizeled profile, high shoulders.
I don't think it's too bad,not fond of the rear tailight section,or glass roof, and lambo doors, but the hardlines are sweet in my opinion.

nawww, it resembles the camaro

Ray Spencer 02-04-2013 08:42 AM

Does absolutely nothing for me. it should have stayed in Italy were it was dreamt up.
