Power Door Locks

While troubleshooting an issue with the function of the door lock in the passenger door of my 83 GLX Convertible I discovered the problem to be caused by seized factory installed Power Door Lock Actuator. I also discovered that the car came from factory pre-wired for Power Door Locks minus the door lock switches and now minus 1 seized and 1 previously removed, probably for the same reason, Driver's Door actuator.
With this information I then began to research the possibility of trying to make the system functional. I found an aftermarket alternative that would make the system both functional and add the convenience of keyless entry on Amazon for less than the cost of 1 OEM Actuator. I was able to purchase the complete kit consisting of the Keyless Entry transceiver, 2 Key fobs, a wiring harness, plus 2 actuators supplied as addition for $37 including delivery. There are number of kits available for both 2 door & 4 door vehicles and have number of added options such as Remote Trunk Release Emergency Power Window closing, internal cockpit switch activation, park light/horn activation confirmation & internal alarm system activation. A pretty good deal for, in most cases for under $50, in my opinion
According to the information contained in the kit, it can be used to add Keyless Entry Function to any functioning Power Door Lock system along with, adding power door locks to vehicles.never fitted with this option or is missing critical components as in my case
I must also inform everyone that the instructions with these kits are notoriously poor and it will require a good working knowledge of automotive DC wiring & function control to make the system work.
I'm currently rounding up the components to build & bench test the system with the addition of the addition circuitry & relays for a single or 2 door mounted cockpit switches before installing everything. Once done I will create & will be willing to share a simplified wiring diagram for anyone wishing to add a Keyless Entry and or Power Door locks to their older Mustang

If you happen to run into a problem finding an oddball OEM part (like '83 power door lock switches/parts), my neighbor has about 20 fox body Mustangs/Capris laying around, and many more he has disassembled for parts. Shoot me a PM if you need anything, and I'll check with him. We are in Ontario, but he ships parts all over the country.
