separated leaf spring

separated leaf spring
the bottom leaf on one of my leaf springs (driver side) had separated from the collection by a 5-6" length in front of the rear axle. does this pose a major problem that must be dealt with ASAP or is it a casual problem? Does the spring have to be replaced or fixed? I am assuming it is original (67' ) but cannot confirm. thanks

not sure if they are similer but on big trucks there is a pin down through the middle that kinda holds them in place if they are the same i would say that would be a good place to look you should be able to just replace the pin

spring issue
Hi
I can't answer that, but I don't think there are pins through.
Suggest you go to any Midas Shop or similar and just ask them.
Any decent garage will tell you without even seing the car.

The leaf springs have wrap around clamps that help keep them aligned. (usually cushioned with rubber) More than likely ones missing or loose or? Look for a place that replaces/re-arcs leaf springs and they can help you. It is not dangerous but over time the leaf will keep moving out of position.
