SHAKER Hood, Questions and Opinions please!

Hi, new to the site. Used to own a 67 stang, sold it, bought a 72 Nova, sold it because I missed my stang, Now I have a 66 with a 302 hi-po.

Just wondering: Has anyone ever seen a Shaker Hood on a 66 coupe (not fastback)? Is the reason why I havent seen it because it would look ridiculous, or does anyone think it would work? And is there any place that I could order a hood with a hole pre-cut for a shaker, or would I have to cut the hole myself? Any advice would be awesome! Thanks- Bob:biggrin:

Shaker's came on the 70 Mustang. There is a discrepancy on the 69. Some say they came special order or late model 69's. That's still debatable. On a 66, Coupe, no less would, I my opinion look silly and out of place plus, expensive.
Go with the small Shelby scoop of that era if anything.

Mike.

Try Classic Designs Concept for the hood and shaker. You should get someone with Photo Shop (I think thats what it is called) to put one on your car so you can see what it would look like.

How old are you? A Shaker on a 65-66 would look like a dick on a chick...god!!!

Never heard of any debate over the 69 shakers. I have seen plenty of shakers on 69's from 351's to 428's.

I agree, use a Shelby styled scoop on the 65/66 cars. It just fits.

Agreed on the '69 year model with shakers.Seen plenty of Boss 302's,and 428 CJ's,aswell as the Mach 1's with them.

Those that say it is your car do what you want are 100% correct. If you knew you were going to keep your car forever then go for it.

If you think you ever might want to sell it then you are into a different ball game. You could paint your car Cher Bono pink if you wanted to. Just figure on having a tough time selling it.

A shaker isn't the same category as other mods you could do that would destroy the value of the car but it sure won't add any value to the car. My opinion is that you should stick with popular mods. I have never seen a shaker on a 65/66 but I have on a 68. It looked out of place.

Shaker was not available on '69 BOSS cars. Ford made it an available option on the '70 BOSS2. Any other '69 - '70 Mustang (w/ 351 & up) could be ordered w/ a Shaker. Some were 2V cars.
