Instrument Cluster Swap

Has anyone here ever changed out their Instrument Cluster? Mine is a (2009) American MPH V6 base 4 gauge cluster with 39,000 miles on it. I picked up a used 2006 Canadian KPH V6 6 gauge cluster with 153,000 KLM's on it. I would like to swap them out. Can I have the info downloaded from mine and have it flashed on to the used one? Are there any problems that I should be aware of?

Thanks in advance.

It should just swap over but as far as downloading the info, they don't actually do that. They just require all of the info off of the old cluster and program the new one with the same info. It can't be done at the dealer so I would have to be done by an authorized supplier/repair facility. If you talk to a dealer in your area they should be able to tell you who can do it.

You are right. I went to the Ford dealer after I posted this and they won't change the mileage, but will put my info on. I found a company in Toronto called Speedofix.com and they can do it. The cost is $300.00.

Hey!

A bit late to this party - but are you saying Ford wouldn't do the install?

I've got the basic instrument cluster and want to upgrade (to include Info Center, MyColor feature, etc.).

I am doing just that. I'm going from a American MPH base 4 gauge cluster to the Canadian KPH optional 6 gauge cluster with my colour and info center. I put it in my car to test it the other day and it works. Ford will put my information on it. BUT WILL NOT CHANGE THE MILEAGE. As I said in my other post there is a company in Toronto that will change it for $300.00. I am going to have the mileage changed then have the Ford dealer change it out. Only because I still have warranty on my car and having Ford change it keeps my warranty.

I hope this clears this up for you.

Yes it does, thank you.

Any idea what Ford would charge for the swap?

The Ford dealer quoted their hourly shop rate to input the information and remove/reinstall cluster. About 1.5 hours. If you were to have the bezel removed that whould be one less step for them to do.

Fair enough. Didn't [quite frankly] think the cluster swap would cost over $300 lol all good! Too bad it's garaged for the winter
