I am thinking of doing the same thing to my car,

But I am a little scared of what I might screw up or worse, break. Can I ask a few questions?
How long did it take for your project? Any tips or pointers you can give a rook engine cleaning guy?

P.S. looks sweet now man.

Thanks,

well I only cleaned it because I had to do the valve covers, they cleaned up nicely.

As for the parts with dirt and grime (Firewall etc), you just simply spray some Brake Cleaner on a rag, and rub it all away. Then, pick up some Tremclad Flat Black rust paint, and go over those spots. use something like tape and newspaper to block the overspray from the fenders.

it took a couple of hours, and I didn't even powerwash the engine. I suspect if I did it would look much better, but, looks never concerned me much.

Just you.... the first pic was from close up, from further it looked even worse, miscellaneous wires dangling everywhere.... it was quite the abortion.

Alex, man you are good...

Yes it is too bad there wasn't just a button or filter that would acually PHYSICALLY do the same thing to the car that you can do to it in PhotoShop...but I guess thats why they call it elbox grease & not mouse grease...
