gangs on the street
So Wednesday night I am heading south of Calgary in my Big Truck and the wife calls (10:45 PM) She tells me someone has smashed my Stang....I pause then ask her what???? Seems that some punk decided to venture up my driveway and proceed to jump on my hood and boot the windshield out...
It would seem that we have some young punks that part of the initiation to a gang is to go around smashing car windshields, The more risky the better.
Mine was a long list of as far as my Bother in Law figures (owner of Apple Auto Glass her in North Battleford ) the 26th in two weeks.
Her is the picture sent to me from my wife that night. second picture is behind buddy's garage after a cleaning.
I am lucky there is no hood damage or paint just the window. It will be replaced on Monday.
Of course the 100 RCMP officers in the community could not catch up with the guy although we sighted the guy minutes after across the park from us. Oh well I am out a deductible .

Yah, I'm not one to promote vigalantee (sp?) justice, but what the heck ever happened to common decency and respect for other peoples stuff?? Back in my day as a young fella, we might have done the odd bit of mischief, but large scale destruction like this was unheard of. Then again, I had a good upbringing with good values. Thanks Ma and Pa.

I am in favor of the concept of "taking the law into ones own hands" if the gang creep was caught. Unfortuantely the law as it exists does not allow this type of action other than a citizen's arrest. I alway thought that it was simply amazing that some turd could damage your property but if you caught the perp you had to remain calm and collected and simply hand over the perp to the police. If I caught someone doing this to my stang I would be tempted to deal with him or her like soya sauce on rice.
I guess the saving grace is that only the windshield was damaged...to bad your out the deductible. Its too bad the RCMP can't catch the perp, if so you could ask the court for restitution.
