Track laps At MIS

Took the Kony Pony for 6 laps around Michigan today, got there early and was able to run behind the pace car. They kept us between 75 and 80 mph, was able to drop back a little and stretch her legs twice to 100mph.What a blast!

Nice, sounds like you had a blast. I would love to hit the track with mine one day.

Awesome day at the track dude - no worrying about any cherries lit up in the rearview mirror, just straight up fun! Love to do that someday, been to MIS a couple of times for some Cup races.

How much and who do you talk to? I would LOVE to open mine up on the track.
Although only 75-80??? (I know, I know probably insurance & liability crap and stuff)

All the info is here http://www.mispeedway.com/Vanity-Pages/Track-Laps.aspx You're running out of time this year,it's only on for another week, they're re-surfacing the track after the Nascar race in Aug. You really are itching to go faster, you could imagine the chaos if they didn't keep you contained. They don't limit what type of cars get on the track, there was a smart car with a grandmother and her grandson doing laps! If you ever do it,get there early so you can be behind the pacecar, believe it or not,if we would have gone another lap we would have had to slow down because we would have caught the tail enders.

That was the weirdest part of the whole thing when you come out of turn four and look up at all those empty seats, the only time I've ever seen the place empty.

That is so very cool!! Love your stang too! :tup

:banghead:...and I was just in MI last week, knew nothing about this. I think I need to have a chat with my brother.

Souther Ontario guys, there is the GHMA "Mustangs at Mosport" event in the summer every year. Entry is around $250ish, and you get on the Grand Prix circuit at Mosport for the day. And you don't get held back behind a pace car ... an S197 GT will hit about 120 mph on the back straight once you start getting it figured out.

cheers

How cool would that be? Especially with no pace car! The feeling I had at MIS was that you really were'nt going fast enough, you kept hoping that the pace car would pick it up a little. Still a unique experience though.

It's very cool ... I instruct at the event every year. A friend with a modded C6 Z06 Corvette will hit 165+ mph up the straight there, which I think is crazy in a street car without a cage. Even my beater Taurus SHO will see ~105 - 110 mph in to corner 8 at the end of the straight, if I brake deep enough. :P

cheers

Super cool idea for the garage aka man-cave. :tup Road Courses are nice, but for fans of the ovals, that would be a cool experience to say you did it, just once, kind of a bucket list thing.

Yeah, the fact that I've seen many races there and got to see how it looks from the business side of the fence made it all the more special.

Trust me, that process is never completed!!! Sometimes on hold until finances allow, but seems we always find more things to do or add to the "man-cave":tup
