how much will you save dollar wise by doing the work yourself. I am sure it will be substantial.

1low03gt 02-26-2012 05:26 PM

Not to sure to tell you the truth. There is at least a few hours to install the valve seals, valvesprings, and install, and degree the cams, then another hour roughly to install the exhaust manifolds, the intake, and cam covers on the new heart, then at minimum, a good day to get the old engine out as we plan to drop it from the bottom with a hoist, then another day to get the new heart in. So with most shops charging roughly 70 bucks an hour,it will kill me.
This will be my fifth engine swap to date, so i'm all good, plus my buddies have done many swaps aswell, so we could have it done in a weekend hopefully! LOL!

Wow 1LOW - A lot of work ahead of you but you're well on your way. Stang still looks badass - even torn apart like that. Looking forward to running with you on the track.

1low03gt 02-26-2012 06:57 PM

Yeah, seems like lot doesn't it LOL!!
Definitely not going to rush it. By July i am hopin that the GT will be home with the long block sitting in the engine bay. Then i am going to re paint the intake, cam covers, ects, and do a lot of detailing to re clean things up afterwards.
So i will do a build thread once the ball gets rolling.
and thanks VAEM, appriciate the compliment. Will meet you side by side for sure! If not on the track, in the stands for sure LOL!:tup
