No it's the actual shifter itself but you can put a t-handle on it if wanted. I prefer a regular shift ****.

Not really, i can count how many times on one hand in the nine years i've owned on how many times it has happenned, so that's pretty good LOL!

Same here, really happy with it thus far. Still feels like a new shifter to this day. Nice, and tight.
