Better the carpeting than the entire cable like my Sundance... The cable frayed and the pedal was stuck all the way down. It's still dangerous either way.

haha Im surprised its just Cobras. Its happened to me in my GT in a parking lot once (thankfully almost empty lot) where I had to slam on my brakes and shut my car off. Now I pull my carpet all the way back every couple times I get in.

Happened to me at the track the 5th day I had the car. I had the carpet replaced and it still happened. I filed a complaint 2 years ago about it..glad they are doing somthing about it now.

That's why I keep my old girl. She's to worn out carpet wise to worry...........

Luckily I haven't experienced that problem...yet?

What kills me is there have been a lot of people complaining for a few years about this. However it wasn't until an official Govt. body like the NHTSA gets involved and Ford rolls over faster than a two bit ho :bleh:

Bring it on FORD

i had it four times in my cobra, got rid of the floor mats and some packing tape right below it, and it never happened again. and yes the packing tape easily comes off again.

I had the same thing happen in my Explorer a few years back, its an interesting experience to say the least.

If you watch the vid hes off the gas long before he hits the car in the turning lane..we debated this on another forum...

when it happens the gas peddle does not return..trust me...I was at the track when it happened and the carpet holds the peddle from coming back, therefore WOT.

Charlie_Chaos 05-03-2006 11:16 AM

My '93 4 Cyl did that.

It was a 5 speed though so I quickly Popped it into Neutral and reached down and pulled the mats out and got my foot behind the gas peddle .

Scared the Sh*t outt me though.

"the pedal could interfere with the carpeting during heavy throttling"

Come on!? Cobra owners never do any "heavy throttling"do they? :laughhard
