Not sure how many are aware that Ford has re branded their High Performance Division. Not to be confused with any competitors but is has been renamed the RS Division? The first new vehicle will be the Focus ST re branded as Focus RS with many more vehicles to come in the near future. The good news is the Focus will have some 300 + horsepower with similar increases in torque.

Not sure of the reasons but it is likely name recognition in the global markets. Someone obviously did not do their homework with this one.

Interesting! Not sure if this is a good thing for them or not. time will tell. I guess its nothing new for Ford to do so though as they have done this in the pass.

 

I don't want to sound rude but you need to re read the article. They have not rebranded as RS, it's the Ford Performance Team. The Focus RS is not a rebadged ST, but a completely new model. The ST and RS models have been available in Europe for several years.

Interesting to rename it. SVT was a well established name.

 

I'm pretty sure it has to do with the global strategy, bring European stuff here and vice versa. It makes sense to me, I really like what's headed our way.

Ford is going to re-brand all of the performance divisions under one banner.
It has not been officially released, but rumours are it will be called
Ford Perfomance, it will be global. taking in the ford racing, Svt, RS, all under one roof.
So it will be recognized more globally. Will the change anything to distinguish cars,
The news is supposed to be released at the Detroit Auto show in January.
Along with some new models.
Ford is going to kick *** in Detroit.
