'05+ tire size upgrade

I am looking at a couple of different wheel sizes to upgrade on my '05 GT from the stock 17X7 to either 18X8 or 20X10. What I am trying to find out is the best tire sizes to mount on either size with out disrupting anything. The stock tire is 235/55/17. Any suggestions?

Just FYI, the stock 17" wheels are 8" wide, not 7". 255-50-17 would work on those.

For 18", 255-45-18 is a good choice for all 4 corners, that size fits nicely on 8" wheels.

In 20", 255-35-20 would match the diameter of your original tires very closely, and that is a pretty commonly available size. if you want to go wider for the rear, 285-30-20 is available in some of the higher end tire models.

In the next 2 weeks the 05gt will have 275/40/18 Nittos on 18 inch bullets. Then the 1 1/2 inch lowering to follow within days
