were 3.27's a factory option as well? dealer option?

From what I remember 3:27's were in the auto cars. Not sure of the year they started it tho.

it most likely has 3.08s....haven't seen many 87-93 stangs with the 2.73s....the autos did have 3.27s

Look inside the drivers door for a vehicle sticker. Look on the bottom line for a code labeled "AX". If the letter is E it is a 3.27. If the letter is a M it is a 2.73. If the letter is a Z it is a 3.08.

The E was only available with a Auto tranny starting in 1984.

3.27's were also standard for convertible 5L models as well I believe

87 cobra

i have an 87 with stock 3.08s but most of what i know were 2.73s

Not all AOD cars came with 3.27s, some came with 3.08s....... I've owned several and its hit or miss it seems. Actually, the only Stang I've ever owned with stock 3.27s was my AOD equipped '92 World Series Parade Stang.
