Another update.
Moved forward a bit.
Got the heads assembled with my old Cushman/VT stage II cams, new Comp Cams valve springs, and valve seals. The Ford Racing 4.6L 2V head gasket kit did reach my door yesterday, but the wify wasn't home in time to get it from FedX!!! Needless to say, i could've had the heads on, and be that much closer to being done the assembly!!!! Got to waite til monday for them to come back now! :banghead:
Anyways for some pics.....

VAEM 05-05-2012 08:08 PM

1low03gt 05-07-2012 06:01 PM

The Ford Racing head gasket, and head bolt kit came in today, and just like I thought, it is all oem!!! So why is Ford charging an arm, and leg at the dealer??!! Unbelievable lol!
So anyways, sometime this week I will start getting the heads installed! :)

VAEM 05-07-2012 08:51 PM

Keep us posted. Can't wait to see the pics!

1low03gt 05-08-2012 07:26 PM

Thanks Paul :)

SNAKEBITE 05-09-2012 06:40 AM

right now those parts are at their cleanest

1low03gt 05-09-2012 08:03 PM

Ya, and i am hoping they stay that way :?.
The first two years ('03, and '04), i daily drove it in the summers because of insurance costs, so it saw rain, dirt, dust, ects.... So since it hasn't seen daily summer duty since '04, it should be even easier to keep that stuff clean....i hope LOL!

SNAKEBITE 05-09-2012 10:31 PM

I have no doubt it will be but saying that it's amazing how dirty they get as a toy

VAEM 05-10-2012 06:36 PM

^^^ No kidding. I used mine as a daily driver for a few years. Sometimes I miss those days. Sometimes not. LOL. One of my favorite threads Jay. You're doing awesome.

It seemed much simpler to just cruise it, and not care, once you start getting into the show aspect, then that is where driving it daily threw the summer becomes non existant anymore,.... why.... because it takes waaaaay to much time to clean the freaking thing.... hate being so .... LMAO!

And thanks bro.

SNAKEBITE 05-12-2012 06:21 AM

YOUR LAST POINT IS BANG ON. EVEN WITHOUT THE SHOW CIRCUIT THING I WOULD WANT TO KEEP ON TOP OF THE CAR SO AS TO NOT BUILD UP A MESS WHICH REQUIRES MORE WORK DOWN THE LINE oops left caps on from last post doh

Lt_Crazy 05-12-2012 02:35 PM

cool build!!! I wish I had the patience to do that!!!

Another update from this weekend,....... getting closer.......

Oh, and what a treat it is trying to get that driverside head on with dipstick tube lightly attached to the head, while routing it between the motor mount, and short block!! The tube is a nightmare to get threw there cause of its shape!!!! Took two of us to get it to route, and it was still a fight!

Hey Jay I am to lazy to look, will this give you a bunch more hp, how much?

1low03gt 05-14-2012 04:52 PM

I don't think i will gain much at all, if anything, the only thing that is different is that i smoothed out the exhaust ports on the heads.

ChadStang 05-14-2012 08:48 PM

It's coming along nicely. You must be getting the itch to drive it again.

1low03gt 05-14-2012 09:25 PM

I am for sure, but it will be nice just to hear it run once again LOL!

SNAKEBITE 05-14-2012 11:30 PM

I say a wee bit o hp gain lol
