I understand sentimentality and such but I'd approach it all negative and critical. It's just a car, a mechanical commodity to be bought, used -hopefully enjoyed- and perhaps sold.
Maybe I been burnt too many times and realize what autobody shops really think and charge for these "classic" cars. There's an old formula I read in a muscle car magazine years ago, take the value of the car in pristine condition and what top market value would be and then subtract what everything would cost to make it that way.
In reality a lot of cars would be given away lol. I know that's not reality but nobody is doing you a favour selling you a car..
