Well guy's,

It's on its way from the West coast to the East coast so it's too late to change my mind now. There is one picture that shows the 500 hood (red) on a GT like mine and it looks OK to me. Mine is a Grabber Orange convertible with a black center stripe. Once the 500 hood is on and the stripe kit reapplied I think that it should look alright. There is an arch in the lip of the GT 500 hood and that gave me some concern as to how it would match up with the GT grill. My friend that has the 500 said that he preferred the grill and light system that is on mine to that on his. Myself I would like to have that Roush engine that he has. That horse has got some serious backup ponies with it.

Thanks for all your input,

Karl

I'm going to the races in Charlotte this coming week and the hood should be here when I get back. I will have my brother repaint it and do the install. After all is done I will post a couple of pic's showing the front view.

I have the hood but it took an awful thrashing in the shipping. When it got here it had six dents in it and the front corner on the drivers side was bent in where someone dripped it. There was a big dent where the washer squirter is on the passenger side of the hood and another warp on the back edge just right of where the driver looks out the windshield. To make matters worse someone dragged the thing across a concrete floor and wore the tips of the hood that are toward the windshield down 1/2 inch. The hood is made of aluminum so I had to take it to a shop that specializes in aluminum welding and build the tips again, then have the dent guy come and fix the dents and my brother was able to straighten the rest. He is prepping the hood now and the paint has been delivered. Once that is done the stripes have to be put on. I have nearly the same amount of cash into repairing the hood as I paid for it so this has been turning into the project from hell. I'm to the point now that I don't even care I just want it done. I'll sure think twice before I ever have anything shipped Purolator again. I had purchased insurance and the guy I bought it from said he called Purolator but I have never heard a word from anyone again. When my brother finishes with the hood he is going to detail the rest of the car then I will post a couple of Pics.

KJ

Wow .... what an ordeal. I can't wait to see the final product though.
(and more importantly, whether or not I won the "debate".

Well if you made any bets you are about to collect as I have had the hood on the car to see how it lined up. Bolted on the hood catch from the old one, used the same marks that were on the new hood that were there for the hinges, slammed it shut and it fit perfect. If anything this hood looks better on the GT than on the Shelby. The two driving lights line up perfectly with the arch in the hood.
