2016 Mustang V6 in Winter?

Greetings, I am just about to buy the 2016 Mustang V6. Can't afford the Eco Boost or anything higher. My ONLY hesitation is that I live in Toronto and winters suck here. Big snow. Ice. Crap. This will be my only car so I need a reality check on how this thing will do in winter conditions. I guess it's too early to tell for 2016 but I'm sure recent year models compare.

So am I pipe dreaming on getting this with need to drive year round? Or are snow tires gonna be fine. Do I even need snow tires.

My driving level is high. I'm a driver. I ride a Honda st1300 and Id call myself a very good driver. So if all it comes down to is experience then I'll be fine. But this will be my first RWD car. Coming off a 2005 Jetta all season tires FWD which I drive all year with a couple of minor slides here and there but nothing near a collision. I do have one big hill by my house I would have to climb daily. Any advice?

Welcome to the CMOC. Winter tires are your friend. I'm partial to Bridgestone Blizzaks myself, but there are plenty of good ones out there. A dedicated snow/winter tire makes a HUGE difference.

I've got a 2013 V6 and winters are fine.

It is both my first manual transmission car and the first RWD car I drive in the winter. And I bought it in February a couple of years ago.

I highly recommend getting a good set of winter tire. I was caught once by an early snowfall with my all-seasons and it was not fun.

Welcome, congrats on the new ride. Don't be scared to drive in the winter, I remember a day when rear wheel drive was about the only thing you could buy, and we ran bias ply tires in the winters, none of these new fangled winter tires. lol Seriously, those guys hit it, get some Blizzaks, they work. Especially if you're in Toronto, where it seems a good portion of the population have no idea what snow is, or how to drive in it.

I usually put a set of blizzacks on my mustang. You'll be fine obviously if your at a complete stop and your gonna hit the gas go easy on the pedal you don't wanna dig yourself a hole and get your rears stuck. Mustangs are usually pretty heavy comparing to other coupes however the back end is still light. Some purple load the back end to weigh it down but usually that's not necessary. Good luck. Congrats on your new ride!
