Source: Ford?s Next Shelby GT500 Will Be Powered By N/A 7.0L V8 Powerplant ? SpeedTwitch.com Fresh on the Bullitt train, is the GT500 rumour mill. Any thoughts ? Much like the new gen Mustang GT, a lot of styling cues from the GT350. Supposedly, the 7.0L will be built in Canada no less. Have yet to see any pricing numbers, but I won't be surprised to see $75,000+ for the GT500, probably more when you add ADM. Interesting times though, I still maintain this is the golden era of factory horsepower any way you cut it. The fact they're even talking about the GT500 is good. |
Turbo 6 would be cooler! But 7.0 NA is pretty awesome too!
|
Ford Performance dropped the ball when they put the EB in the Raptor, sure its improved performance, but it sounds like a sick duck. Surely they will not make the same mistake again.....although the twin turbo V8 rumour is always surfacing on a regular basis.
|
I read this yesterday and just a few days before that it was going to be a supercharged 5.2 but with a cross plane crank. I'm not believing anything anymore until Ford says it.
|
With the unveiling of the 840 some odd hp SRT Demon, I'm starting the rumour that Ford Performance is now working on a twin turbo 7.0L to compete, expected horsepower to be 1200.
All that and a computer too. |
I like what they are doing in terms of engineering and pushing the envelope, but who are they building these cars for ? The .01 % or what ?
|
Last rumor I heard was 5.2 cross plane crank engine with twin turbos.
producing 740hp. time will tell. You can bet it will be a beast. You won't be buying for 75k, the GT350 sells for more than that. You will be closer to 90K I bet. |

This car will run atleast 90-100k easy as prices of Mustangs is rising every year it seems, but whatever they do i`m sure it will be awesome and expensive. Once you add all your options the price tag would be easily over 100k . A 7.0 L would be crazy fun to drive , time will tell and i will most definitely test drive haha

I can't afford another one yet :(
But would be cool to have |
I'm speculating there will be no problems selling them when the are released into the wild, no matter the price.
Be interested to see how many are allotted for delivery to Canada, +1 to have a 350 and a 500, bragging right to have 1000+ hp in the driveway. |

Same lol. Seriously though there is only so many place to use that kind of power. I loved my GT500 but IMO The new 350 is way more car and way more fun to drive. That said a new GT500 is a tempting little machine if it happens |
One more year for the GT350......I don't see the GT500 happening until at least 2019.
