20's on a foxbody
has anyone ever seen 20's on a mustang. im thinking on doing a 20" in the back and a 18" in the front i was wondering if someone out there knows what backspacing and width is safe and if it can be done?
|
r u serious.. that would be something id wanna c..
|
lol funny....
:run: |
i have seen 20's on a fox, i dont know where to get the picture.
i thought it looked like ass, 18's are the biggest that should go on a fox IMO. and if you do go 20's, go with 20's all the way around..... |
Havent seen it but now I wanna, that would look pretty damn good. :crutch
|
personally i want to do it to be different..i did the twin turbo to be different and i love the whole chip foose big wheels thing. like when you see a cuda with 22's on the back and 20's on the front..looks deadly. im thinking i can fit it with no cutting i just need to find out offset. i will definately post pics if i do the 20/18's
|
20s are way to big...Ive seen it and it doesnt look good on foxes
|
well i guess i might have to be the first one to make it look good :3:
|
:drink or not..
|
it wont look good.
|
i think you are all thinking some big ass chromed out wheel. theres no different then putting on an 18 inch cobra rim. its just going to fill the wheel well gap more. you guys are just affraid to be different and try new things
|
By going to a 20" wheel you will almostly certainly have to increase the overall height of the wheel/tire combo, and likely by quite a bit.
If you want to fill the wheelwell's then lower it a bit, don't throw a massive wheel at it. 18's are biggest that belong on a fox body IMO. |
i know i will have to raise the overall height of the wheel tire combo. thats what you do when you go to a bigger wheel and tire?????

Any ideas of which rims you want to go for? |
:poke: 18F 20R ? :brickhead
Two VERY different sizes of wheel / Tires will cause you problems. |

send me a pictures of your car on a seid veiw, and the wheels you want on, and ill chop them on. if you want |
well do what you want to do its your car not anyone elses,i think it would look good with 20s.Your modding your car for yourself not for other people.just my 2 cents.
|
I doubt they will fit without any cutting. You'll probably need to raise the ride height to make 'em fit too. Good luck with it. :)
|
Width and offset choices would be similar to using smaller diameter wheels.
A few tire manufacturers are now offering 25 series 20" diameter tires, so there are some available around 26" overall diameter in 255 - 285 widths ... that would fit fine on a Fox body rear. As for how it will look, I think of what my buddy Stu likes to say ... "It's your car, you can do what you like with it. Hell, you can even pour gasoline on it and set it on fire, it's your car!!" :poke: cheers Ed N. |
"No, We just know what would look stupid......and it will."
good thing this is a fun loving forum. instead i have to deal with idiots. i have been with cars for a very long time and especially with custom cars. 18 front and 20's rear will not cause problems like someone else said you just get different sidewall. thanks you for the other people that think it would look good. as for ithink it was dech, off. you do your thing and ill do mine. not everyone wants "cobra" wheels on there car like every other mustang.(no offence to the cobra wheel owners) but me personally like to be different. maybe you should email chip foose and tell him his cars are stupid, becasue im sure someone did before he started modifying old muscle cars and putting 22's on them. i think its done good for him...no??? |
^Lmao@krzpny!! :tup
Hey man, make sure and post pics when she's done, I think it'll look good, but better with all 20s or maybe 19s/20s, I agree that old 'cudas look sweet with big 'n littles but I really think that's because of the body line of the car-the body line is raised in the back so it looks good, whereas a fox is pretty much straight and flat. I'm not trying to discourage you, but maybe have white_snake or someone photoshop it before you spend the money on the wheels-just in case, good luck. :thumb1: |
well thanks you for the confidence and what not. i do apoligize to dech for earlier i just hate haters that try to discourage everyone. i know what your saying about the bodylines as well with it being straight on foxbodies. i would go 19's on the front but i dont think it will clear when turning but who knows. as for the cost of things i work at a performance shop so if it doesnt work then i just throw them on the shelf lol.....also its just a thought of putting them on the car i still dont know. the wheels would be tsw thruxtons. i had them on my 2000 gt but 18x9.5 and they look deadly. huge deepish and on the 20x10's they have a 5" dish on them. might not be everyones cup of tea but i love the deep dish look.

its because of the wheel it looks like crap. thats a very blinging wheel. if it was something a little more mild then it would look just like every other wheel just bigger..
