Aftermarket exhausts and the law

Folks,

Thinking of removing the stock exhausts on a 2012 GT, and replacing with aftermarket exhausts possibly from Borla, Corsa, etc. Looked into BC Motor Vehicle Act regulations, and apparently noise level should be exceed 83db. Have you guys had any experience with being ticketed for after market exhausts and under what conditions (just idling, revving, throttling?) Under what circumstances were you stopped, and got ticketed for this?

Interested in aftermarket to change the stock tone, and a bit louder. Responsible citizen too so not planning on driving in such a way to wake up the neighbors.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this.

Calgary recently cracked down or instituted the same kind of bylaw. Seems its mostly aimed at the bikes though, eventually I will upgrade mine as well.

They seem to leave us alone around here, but honestly I wish they would do something about these "Billy Big Riggers" and their diesel trucks with straight pipes! It's even better when they put on set of them there semi stacks sticking up through the box. What a joke!

Honestly, Ive never been bothered, well I shouldnt say that, but I'll never bitch out on my neighbor even if they narc on me, cause, eventually I'll party and be loud and expect the same respect. And I've been called on before, and just whatever, not worth the shiznwt.

Unless they're on a spit, slow roasting for the day. :tup

Go for the exhaust dude, as long as you're not jumping on it with open headers, compared to some of the bikes out there, you should be good to go. I swear it's a double standard sometimes when you compare how loud some bikes are to a Mustang with aftermarket exhaust.

I changed mine out in 2007. Never had a problem.....but then at idle I can still have a decent conversation with someone compared to some exhaust systems that are extremely loud!

I like them loud but as a few have said I find the Hogs to be the loudest and have yet to hear an annoying car out this way

Thanks, folks. That's exactly what i'll be doing. I'll going for it, and will just have to be responsible for it. :-)
Interestingly, motorbikes, have a higher limit in regulation 91dba...
