I've had several aftermarket exhaust systems including off road pipes and have never even been pulled over.

i was curious and looked it up for myself and you are correct 83db is the limit for light duty gasoline in BC. it does not state how far away from the tip the measurement should be taken which makes me think it would be pretty easy to fight in court...also they would have to take the measurement at idle. if an officer asks you to rev the engine for measurement it is entrapment.

Never had a problem. Now I don't go reving the engine just to hear the exhaust mind you. Running Flowmaster American Thander Axlebacks. They are loud but not to loud when first started and idling. First through third they have a nice acceleration note.Cruising in fourth to fifth they arn't loud at all until I step on the throttle.

Just drive with a little respect for others during peek quite hours and you will have no problems.

Cheers

Thanks, folks. That's exactly what i'll be doing. I'll going for it, and will just have to be responsible for it. :-)
Interestingly, motorbikes, have a higher limit in regulation 91dba...

Told you there was a double standard.:D

Actually it's a safety issue. My bro-in-law's bike has straight pipes and is LOUD when he opens it up. He was pulled over by a cop once and he tried to give him a ticket. My bro-in-law said to his partner "you ever ridden a bike in traffic before?" They let him go no ticket.

Generally it's not enforced unless they're pulling you over for something else, then they'll tack a noise violation ticket on if you're too loud. They don't enforse the car stereo by-laws either.

I went with a set of Borla "S" axle backs could not stand the stockers.... felt like I was driving an old buick lol
Borla S has awesome sound, quiet when I want them to be, a definite presence and NO drone at all!

I find that hard to believe. It doesn't have to be that deafening and obnoxious, I think there's plenty out there that are not. If they're that worried about being noticed, maybe a bright orange hunting vest would work better. Nah, come to think of it, some people would miss that too. :lol
