Best short-throw shifter
So my wife asked me the question today:
"What would you like for Christmas"? I really hadn't thought about it much. So I mentioned a shifter and got a blank look and an order to find out which one I'd like. So let's hear your thoughts and experiences: |
I have a Pro 5.0 and no complaints. Really nice shifter and has a short throw. I have heard that the MGW shifter is a nice one also.
|
I have a Tri-Ax. I think it's an alright shifter. If I had the chance again, I'd probably go with a Pro 5.0.

Love my tri-ax. And i find the more i use it the better it feels. Ive heard the Pro5.0 is great as well. But almost too far forward. a pro5.0 with a tri-ax handle is nice. and yeah, alot of people really like the MGW.
Your fairly close, you can sit in my car in the garage and row the gears if ya want lol  Really i dont think you can go wrong with any of the new shifters. its more so comfort now. I used the rubber gasets to get rid of the heat & vibration. And its so percise going into 3rd. :tup |
I've got a Pro 5.0 and love it. I'm running a Steeda Tri-ax handle because the Pro 5.0 was real short. Pro 5.0 since changed the handle design and it's very much like the Tri-ax now.
Bottom line...versus the stocker, you can't go wrong with any of the shifters on the market Pro 5.0 Steeda Tri-ax MGW Hurst etc :tup |
Pro 5.0 is the best bang for your buck, MGW is the best but way expensive....the others are much better than stock lol
|
I have a Tri-ax, which I like, but I still miss 3rd occasionally. If I were doing it again I'd try a Pro 5.0 or MGW.
|
Sounds like there are really 3 contenders:
Tri-ax, Pro 5.0, MGW It may come down to the almighty $$, I'll keep you up to date on the decision :tup |
Tri-ax all the way. :tup
I had a Pro 5.0 in my 95 and could still miss the odd 2-3 shift at the track. Changed it to a Tri-ax and never missed another shift. |
