Border Duties and Taxes/Cross Border Shipping of Aftermarket parts!

Hey guys! SO being a canadian and always ordering off good sites like americanmuscle.com, you get tired of spending hundreds of dollars on shipping! Do you guys suck it up and pay!? Or do you guys do other things to get it across cheaper, know how to prevent duties and taxes, or do some good ways to get them across the border (legally )! How do we canadians suffer buying american parts lol.

For me the shipping with companies such as American Muscle is so minimal that it doesn't even cross my mind. I live on the Sask/Alberta border, and getting parts shipped from AM in Penn is dirt cheap in my opinion.

Yea I could see how being where your located it would probably be pretty cheap. I live in Vancouver bc, so its like 150 to 300 minimum to ship to me! And that's small stuff, when its exhaust and stuff like that it could be 400 or more lol.

I'm looking at over $200 to ship 4 wheels from american muscle. If I could find the bullet wheels in CA I would go that way, maybe I'm just not looking hard enuff.

Same here, doesn't even cross my mind, cause it still works out cheaper from them in the end anyways.
But i will say this, make sure you check locally here in Canada aswell, and compare, cause some stuff might be more seeing that some Canadian performance shops are now trying their best to be equivalent as much as possible to keep business.

When I ordered my rims through AM I shipped them to the Border shop just across the border. Saved me 300 bucks or so. Still had to pay duty to get them through but its much cheaper that way if you live close like I do.

I'm in Langley & I have larger items shipped to Bellingham. There's a place called Can Amer Freight, ship it to them & just drive across & pick it up. Most US company ship for free with in the US. You still pay tax but shipping or no customs fees.

I live in Langley too, I considered the across the border strategy, thats why I posted this thread, to see what others do to save a penny. The problem is, I heard things for cars, exhaust, tires, rims etc. you gotta pay 12% tax, and I beleive 6% duties into canada (18 percent total), so that pretty much tops shipping to your door from america, when you bring things across if im correct it always seems to equal a little more for me.
