Anyone have a near stock 5.0L with Borla Pro XS mufflers and h-pipe with cats. Would love to hear how it sounds.

Hey, do you know anyone with that setup? Everyone's recommending flowmasters but I am removing my dynomax mufflers because the drone at highway speed is pretty bad with an AOD so I'm guessing the FMs would be louder and worse.

 

Well, I knew of one guy but his car burnt down. Everyone else has their cars put away, I cant remember who has that muffler on their car though. But, as much as I love Flowmasters I would take Borla's ANY DAY. Its a phenomenal sound with almost no drone. Go for it, just dont get the straight through mufflers as their a bit on the loud side.

If you know of anyone, let me know...I know most cars will be coming out of hibernation over the next 5 weeks or so, and hoping to hear it before installing mine..maybe at a friday night meet or a club event. The borlas are pretty common on the 4.6's but only found one person so far with borlas on a fox (5Limporteater - he's got a 306 with some mild mods and set me a vid of his car...sounds good)

I already have the Borla Pro XS which I believe is a straight-through setup like magnaflow but not as loud as the XR1 mufflers. I would like to hear this setup before I weld these in so can decide whether to sell or keep them.

 

If you decide to sell them let me know, I just dont think they'll sound good on your car *cough cough*. :laughhard In all honesty, I dont think there's an exhaust system that sounds better than the Borla's!!!

OK...I'll let you know. I do like the differentiation factor considering almost everyone with a stang (at least foxes) are using FMs. I've heard the borlas have a "race car" sound and are fantastic at WOT so I'm excited but you know, once they're installed it's harder to sell. I love the sound on the newer stangs.

I'll hold off until the first couple of meets and see if I can hook up with someone running them on a 5.0L to hear what they sound like in person.

Yeah, he sent me a vid clip of his car running and it sounds good but as with these things hearing one in person is always better. He has a 306 with o/r h-pipe I believe whereas mine is pretty much stock: planning to change MAF, TB, and hopefully the intake this year, and already have shorties with 2.5 inch all the way back with cats (MAC H). Heads next year.
