Typically, the choke is powered by 12v from the ignition. To test for this, connect a voltmeter to the wire, and check for voltage when the ignition is off. In most instances, you will have no voltage. Turn the ignition switch to the "on" position, and you should have about 12v going to the wire.

That coolant line won't be enough to heat up the bi-metallic spring inside the choke. It's electrically charged. If the engineers thought you didn't require the wire, they would never have bothered with it in the first place. Hope this helps.

 

Thank you so much for your reply!!! Little problem with your answer though is that the wire is already on the elelctric choke, I was asking where would it typically be connected for the 12v power?

 

My apologies, I misunderstood. You will want to connect that wire to a source that is fed 12 volts only when the ignition is turned on. If connected to a constant 12v supply, you would slowly drain your battery over time.
