Dead pedal

I have a 2002 Mustang with a 3.8 v6 in it. when i put my left foot on the dead pedal i notice a faint click and a beep coming from the dash. I don't notice any lights or anything happening in the cluster.. What is the purpose of a switched dead pedal?

The dead pedal isn't switched. Maybe there is some aftermarket wiring run under it for an alarm or remote start.

Found it!
The main wiring harness is fastened to the dead pedal bracket.
Every time i put my foot on it it moved the harness in which rubbed two wires on the body grounding out the GEM..

All fixed

A little late to the party,..... was going to say that there was a harness right by it. Glad you got it figured out.
