Engine getting hot

Question guys my car has a new 180*F thermostat and the car is fine doing speed limit but as soon as i get my foot in it the stat wants to climb to 220*F. I then put the heater on to bring it down to 200*F. Stock rad, do you think i should buy a double core rad will this solve the problem.

How much HP/mods do you have?

I am not sure if your fox has the same settings as the SN95 in the EEC under fan settings but the SN95's fan settings is......

Low speed fan on 208*F
Low speed fan off 204*F

High speed fan on 228*F
High speed fan off 220*F

could be your fan settings or a faulty Thermo.....

I know the hp because i was at Da Silva for the dyno run 220 hp. mods on the engine track heat intake upper and lower, 70mm throttle body. so the computer tells the fan when to shut off and to turn on . PSP changed the thermostat when they had the engine out at Christmas. What temperature should i never let it get to. How do you change fan settings.

If this is a Fox, and you have the stock fan, it's mechanical, not electric and thus the ECM has NO bearing on the fan, as it's on all the time, and the clutch in it is supposed to engage/disengage based on heat............

Put a big electric fan on your car. I got mine from a dodge shadow, it has 8 blades and works flawless. Good luck
