Fenderwell mounted Cold Air Intake
#11
Well I bought it, it was a good deal and it still had a great finish, i got some eagle one nano polish and it shines like a mirror! I like that there is more and more chrome in my engine bay.

Check out Modular Depot forums (if you haven't already) and search "CAI". That place is FULL of people who know their stuff (like most people here, of course) and have put a lot of time and effort into testing different mods. It's honestly THE place to go for good info. Not like Corral where it's mostly kids talkin' out their *****.
Anyway, from my previous searching I found that on a N/A 'Stang, a CAI will not yeild you much, if any, gain in HP and/or TQ. Most CAI's are made with aluminum which easily concucts the heat from the engine bay, thus negating the efforts to draw the cooler air from the fender well. Lots of people also have problems with the MAF and turbulance, but a lot of those people also removed the screen from the MAF which coulda have contributed to the problem.
I agree that a CAI looks damn sexy under the hood. And if you've got the $, go for it. Just don't expect much in the way of power gains. A K&N "FIPK" is supposed to be the only aftermarket intake that yeilds any decent gains, and it's not even a fender well mounted peice. It's made out of PVC plastic and it's shaped with air flow/turbulance in mind.
If you're looking at HP per dollar spent, a CAI is probably among the worst mods .. kinda like adding a wing on a FWD car. hehehe But looks-wise, I say go for it if the price is right!
Red, any issues at all now that it's installed?
