a few 2000 coupe questions

ok like it says i got a few questions 1st i was wondering a good body shop in or around toronto to get a parking lot dent out of my door without a repaint,,,(cheap) also when i get to about 140kph she is literally falling appart.. im thinking its alignment or balance im changing to summer tires on saturday but im wondering if there is any inhearant flaws i should know about... and last but not least im wondering if i should take her for a tune, as i have kept all my fluids, engine flush, plugs, filters, etc upto date but she chugs alot and has poor pickup anyways any input would help alot thanks!!

may want to get an alignment but to be honest the max speed limit in ontario is 100km now i am not a saint and may speed a bit a 140km is fast and can happin at that speed. just my thoughts as for it chuging have you repaced the wires and maybe spme fuel injector cleaner

This platform is stable to over 260kph... It could be your alignment or your wheels can be out of balance. Is it every time you hit a bump on the road or constant when the road is smooth?

White_Snake 03-23-2007 07:08 AM

if it still shakes after your wheel change.
might also be your drive shaft.

I know mine used to to it at 200KM/H. Dasilva's suggested it was the end of teh shaft that goes into the tranny.

For a dent removal, just look for a piantless dent removal place.

well she starts to shake at about 80kms but if i get to 140 im afraid to go above it and its fairly consistant... but when i turn slightly to the right it stops until i straighten out again and its a loud humming sound like defening.. well hopefully my wheel change will help i will have the alignment looked at as well as the joints, suspension etc.. and archer im sorry for being a lead foot,, its that hormone in me that makes me feel like crap if someone goes by me.. stupid i know

The humming sound could be wheel bearings. My Beetle did the same as you described... turn the wheel, goes away.

tear u a new 1 03-23-2007 10:33 AM

hmmmmm........ 1 the tune . on a 2000 4.6 you should have coil overs ,wich is ,the coil sits right on top of the spark plug for each hole. as for the chuging , thats a tough 1 . could be your mass air sensor is dirty , air filter dirty ,clogged fuel filter , needs new plugs. ect. lots of variables on that 1,as for the tire issue id have to go with flynt on that 1. could be a bad wheel bearing. driveshaft would be constant. good luck and let us know how you make out. poyryd would be the guy to talk to . he SEEMS to know his stuff. lmao j/k ponyryd thumb:

sorry spun.jo i would think if the sound goes away when you turn the wheel best bet bearings

White_Snake 03-23-2007 06:04 PM

yeah disregard my drive shaft comment. if it goes away when turning.

GoldStang 03-23-2007 06:06 PM

ok well ill have them looked at tommorow as well.. i was thinking about takin her into canadian tire, am i insane? or is it ok

White97 03-23-2007 06:20 PM

You're insane! ;) Although I do all my own work so I don't trust anyone.

archer379 03-23-2007 06:53 PM

yeah find a shop the specalizes in alinments

GoldStang 03-23-2007 11:08 PM

im not bad at tech.. but i lack the tools so.. yea, any suggestions for a toronto shop thats good?

GoldStang 03-24-2007 12:57 PM

alright well i have a chip on one rim so they wont change my rears. got the front end looked at.. my passenger side ball joint is just about ready to fall off and my bearings are shot.. for now i will keep ridin it luckily i have experience changing ball joints on a variety of cars so that will not be an issue they want almost 300 (give me a break) so they way it looks the front end is toast,, is that like a problem for all mustangs (99-04) or was it just bad care, ive only had her for a few months so dont blame me =D

archer379 03-24-2007 01:34 PM

i haven't heard of to many people with problems how many km are on it

GoldStang 03-24-2007 10:44 PM

130,000 shes a daily driver

GoldStang 03-24-2007 10:48 PM

in addition im wanting to change the ball joint myself and when removing it, whats involved with the lower control arm?

GoldStang 03-26-2007 10:51 PM

Good to hear!

Was it a hard job?

GoldStang 03-27-2007 08:34 AM

well the old ball joint wouldnt come out, so 1st i torched the bolt off but i had to end up torching the centre of the joint out then using a c-clamp and a steel cup to make it pop out, after that i had the new one in and the tire on within half an hour
