you could sand the stipple down to smooth then paint

ChadStang 10-12-2011 06:51 PM

^ I agree, I've had mirrors done that way

Red Pony 10-12-2011 07:01 PM

They didn't sand mine. They used primer to fill and then painted.

Is that what is on the car that is supposed to not be painted?.....the rubber ( stipple) rocker coating?

How long have yours been painted, and how do they look. I really want mine done, but just took the guys word that it wouldn't work.....

We put them on the car April 1, two days after painting. I had all the other parts painted at the same time (spoiler, side window loovers, hood scoop, side scoops) and the finish looked exactly the same on all parts when I picked them up. The paint on the rockers is perfect. The install is quite interesting. It's all clips, so just line 'em up and give it a smack. This has been my dd all summer and I've put on about 17,000 kms. Haven't see any problems with the paint and haven't found any stone chips either. The car will be stored through the winter, but will be cold storage, so we'll see if that has any impact, but I wouldn't think it should.

***delayed reaction to my kms *****

OMG! I can't believe I put that many miles on this summer! I love driving my Mustang!! Can you tell?

SNAKEBITE 10-14-2011 04:27 PM

Yes and I don't think the cold will affect the car which will just be sitting
