Having difficulty holding back...

I absolutely love driving my stang! She's a daily driver for me and always puts me in a good mood when I see her waiting for me in the parking lot when leaving work. And what a beautiful rumble when I turn the key. The only problem I'm having is with these nasty speed limit signs everywhere! Just when you're turning a corner on a lonely back country road, BAM, there's a sign looking right at you with a big fat 80. So every now and then I give her a little more for the thrill and excitement......but I feel like I'm disappointing her when I have to back off. It's crazy how the more you give, the more she gives back, just wanting to keep on pulling. Hopping on the 401 this past weekend and the guy in the right lane started to merge over to the left...ha...no worries buddy, stay where you are, I'll be in front in just 2 seconds. But it's only a few seconds and you've gotta back off. How do you guys handle it?

Looks like you two had an enjoyable time together!

2 words, Radar Detector!

hahaha

I have the same issue. I can't even top out 2nd gear without speeding. The 3.73's I've got to put in will let me atleast hit third before getting way over the limit.

Two words as a retired copper - speed kills. That's why we have speed limit signs, traffic enforcement etc. The place to let all those ponies loose is on an abandon air strip or a race track.

Unfortunately I don't have either near by. I'm not into top speed anyway, I just like the accelleration. I don't open it up in town or around any traffic for that matter either.

I figure there might be a speed limit, and I'm good with that, but I don't think there's a law on how fast you can GET to the speed limit!!

Ray's right dude, speed kills, and there's a lot of power under the foot. With great power comes great responsibility. So endeth todays sermon.

I use a good (good is the key word, the $98 one from Walmart ain't gonna help) radar detector and more importantly some common sense. I get my kicks out of pulling onto the highway and hammering on it up to say 120 or a quick blast when nobody is around. You just have to be aware and pick your spots and you can have fun.

I'm with you on that one...the thrill for me is the acceleration.

I am the exception for sure on most sites (hell the world lol) and rarely if ever get into it. I could not tell you why I drive like gramps but even driving sloooooooooooow satisfies me. Weird eh!!!!
