Help with drone
The sound in the Stang is driving me crazy.
We have Flowmaster mufflers on now with a catted h pipe and the thing drones so bad. Does anyone with Magnaflow/Borla/Dynomax have a drone problem?

The Dynomax system I had on my 5.0 Fox (again for a short time) would drone pretty much as bad, also had 40 series Flows that were just as bad. Ended up going with 50 series Flowmasters and dropped the tail pipe size from 3" with huge tips to 2-1/2 tails / tips which worked out much better.

Don't know if there are any drone free mufflers. I'm not willing to shell out any money to find out! Since I did not buy the flows I'm not out too much. Just the cost of the stock exhaust (used) and the install.
Another solution would have been to get 4.11's... but then theres using more fuel since you're reving higher. :cry2:
The stock MACH1 exhaust sounds good anyway.

Well I have a convertible and did not want something too loud like the flowmasters. I have read around allot and noticed numerous posts about the drone from flowmasters. I decided to go with magnaflow catback, when at an idle they are fairly quiet. When you step on the throttle they sound good to me but not too overpowering like flowmaster. When cruising with the RPMs about 2000 and below the sound is not too loud, slightly louder than stock, once you start revving higher than that they progressively get louder but again not bad. I have read some flowmaster guys changing to magnaflows and complaining that the magna'a are muffled. To me and especially with a convertible I do not mind them

I can't really help since I have a 5.0 but I had the Dynomax (chambered) mufflers for about 4 years and never liked the drone so I recently replaced with the Borla ProXS mufflers (straight-through) and the drone is significantly less at cruising speed. I would have liked the stinger system (XR-1 type) but these don't bolt-in to foxes.
The borlas and magnaflows would be similar since design is similar (straight-through)

I'm thinking of replacing the Flow's with a pair of Magnaflow mufflers and we'll see if that makes a difference.
