Hood latch came unlocked
:banghead:I was driving on the 401 and ya bumps all over the place but my hood latch came undone ,,the hood did not come up it was still houlding it closed, just came unlocked,,,,it is a 2008 GT ,,is this something that happens with mustangs ,,or was it just a freky thing,,,i have had the car 3 weeks now and all seamsgood nothing hit or bent????
I've never experienced that or heard of it happening to anyone else. Is it the original hood?
Was it shut tight for sure. Maybe the latch needs to be adjusted?!
It is known that the 05-09 cars hoods will lift a bit at speed but it shouldn't come open. You can adjust the height of the hood but I doubt the wind ripped it open.
If it was an aftermarket fiberglass hood I'd say "totally normal - get a hood pin kit" but that should just not happen with a factory hood. I'd get it looked at.
I have never heard of this problem myself, hope it is nothing serious which I doubt
I've not heard of a hood coming open either, but here is my solution to the potential problem.

I had a hood fly up on me once (not a Mustang), after some front-end repair work was done. The latch wasn't set right. Damaged the hood when it folded back. Had to go back to the shop. Anyway, pretty scary event, especially on the 401 when you can't just pull over immediately.
I like the looks of those cervini hood locks...anyone got them? |

Of course the colour's got a lot to do with that, eh DD  . . . then again, I am a little biased in that regard :D

Let's hope they bring it back for the '14's, he might want to upgrade by then!

As much as I love the green (matches my eyes ), I love your grabber blue DD. But I still love my Red. I have owned more red cars than any other color. |

^^^ LMFAO ... I'm a black car or white car kinda guy. Shades, not colors! :tup
^^ Kinda funny, I was never a real big fan of white vehicles, but the more I see the '10-'13 white stangs, the more I like them, and Black has always been a great color on anything.

I used to like white cars because I felt they represented sophistication and class. But the new white Mustang's leave an entirely different impression......."your damn right I'm bad!" :tup
(pic swiped from Lethal Performance facebook) |
I agree about the white stangs. But white cars that look like cop cars but aren't drive me crazy!
Especially the guys that fire whip antennas and plain black rims with no hubcaps on them, and cruise the passing lane at 10 kmh under the speed limit just for fun :banghead:
Ha, The drive to work for me every day is on the way to the US border so I see alot of white haired people in white cars driving both ways, lots of slowing down on my part :)!
I have had this happen to my 2006 GT as well. only once so far in the years that i have owned it. At the time I had installed struts to hold the hood up and I thought maybe I did not shut it tight enough except that it didn't happen for a few days after putting the struts on. I think it is just fluky thing and when it happens pull over and re-shut it quickly.
