hooking up gauge power wires...

well just to keep the threads on topic, i though i would make a different thread for wiring.

I know the ground wire is pretty basic, just go to the shortest grounding place.

But for power should i tap into something, or run a new wire right from the fuse box?

It is a pillar triple gauge pod on the "A" pillar.

Are you talking about for powering the lights or are these electronic gauges?

There's a wire in the defrost module that will give you key-on power. I forget which one exactly but if you look for that it should lead you in the right direction.

For the lights, I would tap into the dash lights, that way, they come on when you turn your lights on, instead of them being on all the time when the car is on.

Personally I just open up the shielding on the wire and solder in the new one myself then wrap it (shrink tube if possible).

The one on the defrost switch is also controlled by the interior light switch, so if you dim your cluster lights, the gauge will dim.
