How about some rules

Ok ladies and gents i think its time to make some rules to be able to join this club! What does everyone think?

archer379 02-18-2008 11:40 AM

like what kind of rules. i am guessing this has something to do with that other thread. The only thing i think of is to have a mod delete the post and in this case delete the user name as it is this guys first post i don't think there is any way to track him and if there is he sould be banned for good.

mise 02-18-2008 11:46 AM

Well it should start by not allowing people to join with an unknown ip address. Also maybe we should all add are real names to our profiles.

Gilligan 02-18-2008 11:52 AM

That's a pretty big open ended statement. My first question is 1/why do you feel there is a need for rules? 2/What would be the nature of the rules? And the biggest question. 3/ Who and how would these rules be inforced? One thing I would not be agreeable to is rules being drafted by and/or enforced by someone who had a $$$$ interest in this club. I mean no disrespect to you or any other member.

mise 02-18-2008 12:10 PM

Well there is alot of bashing going on from people that seem to have 1 or 2 posts. These people are pure cowards and something needs to be done before this club and others are ruined. I am not saying i want to make the rules or enforce them since i already have alot on my plate. I just thought i would start an open discussion on this and people could give there input!

archer379 02-18-2008 12:13 PM

i wouldn't have a problem with putting up real names but if you register you can but any name it still won't make these F@#K tards go away the phone book is full of names someone could use. All someone has to do is go to a computer somewhere and register use a fake name and get a fake email through hot mail or yahoo and he is back on. The best idea i think is to make a sticky telling all members to not respond to treads that get started by people trash talking. If people don't respond and a mod deletes the thread or post sooner or later the guy is going to give up. Remember the old saying the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Ponyryd 02-18-2008 12:29 PM

I really don't think anything needs to be done, but let the mods/admin. handle it.

If you notice all replies (but 1) to said thread are negative toward the starter. I think we're handling it just fine.thumb: Eventually he'll get tired of being a tool and go back to playing Dance Dance Revolution on X-BOX.

Gilligan 02-18-2008 12:34 PM

Truer words have never been spoken. It goes back to the 2% rule. That is 2% of the members are just sturing the pot and the other 98% of us are reacting the way they want us to. We're playing their game....well STOP playing. If no one respones to their forum topic they will have no one to play with and just go away with out us doing anything. I know it's hard, you see a posting you let it get the better of you and respond back, which is doing just what this sick member is wanting you to do. Be the better person(member) don't play the game.

Ponyryd 02-18-2008 02:38 PM

^Exactly......

Stang Illusions 5.0L 02-18-2008 04:08 PM

Sorry there wasn't any mods/admins online.
I just came on line and seen that....Put it this way that user name will never sign in again.
I hope Paul doesn't take offense to that thread, its was delt with properly.

And we will deal with it for ALL SPONSORS.

dohp 02-18-2008 04:15 PM

imo i don't think peoples names should ever be made public for all to see, if they don't want to. I have heard rumors on other forums, where potential thieves view the audio/buy sell section etc and may have used them for a "grocery list" of sorts. If your name was public at all times, it's easy to just 411 someone and find their addy, then camp out and steal some parts. May sound outlandish, but there have been way to many coincidence's on one forum i was a part of to deny this theory. I support the ignore the ass hats and mods delete the msg ASAP, and all inappropriate PM's can be brought to the attention of a mod (via PM or e-mail)

Stang Illusions 5.0L 02-18-2008 04:17 PM

I agree ^^^

This Forum will never bring that rule into action!!!! just for that reason.
If it ever did most people would drop this site including me!

dealt with properly? We were starting to get into a good response to it FINALLY and you just come in and lock the thread. You should have let it go on for a bit IMHO.

Are you serious or was that a joke?
People are bitching about CMOC not taken things seriously.

Paul Miester works at Steeda and is a great guy that is also a

TOP SPONSOR ON CMOC
That thread was unadulteratedly unacceptable!

Nick is 100% correct here. This topic needs to be discussed (no, not the topic of BS pertaining to Paul being punched out); The topic of BS posts and threads cropping up and existing for a while before they are dealt with.

Nick and I have been talking on MSN about this and it needs to be out in the open.

These forums are a business. They count on revenue contributed by sponsors and user contributions to pay the bills for their existence.

These threads, and these users are not hurting Paul, or his reputation. They are not hurting Steeda or any other site they slander for the most part. They are hurting this forum because it drives away other potential sponsors.

Is some moron talking out his ass going to prevent me, or anybody with more than a grade 2 education and a decent handle on their faculties, from recommending Paul's work? No.

Does it make the forum look bad though? YES.

If I was (and I am) a business looking to advertise my services, do you think I would be inclined to look elsewhere when topics like this come up? Yes, I would and yes I DO.

Sponsors, and businesses in general do not want their names associated with this seemingly endless runaway train of slander and misinformation.

Not to sound curt or rude, but that's factual. There are a number of sponsors here who are on this site because people like Nick and others like him, recommended it. When stuff like this goes on, do you think they feel they are getting good value for their money? When they see other sponsors painted in such a negative light, do you think it makes them want to invest their money a second time?

I know I wouldn't.

Perhaps we need more moderators, I don't know. But there needs to be a solution found.

StealthGT 02-18-2008 04:45 PM

Wow.... all i have to say

OVERKILL 02-18-2008 04:54 PM

Just to add a little clarity here after my discussion on MSN with Keith:

I am not saying that the thread about Paul should have been left open per se.

I think the discussion that was occurring, that had nothing to do with the original topic of the thread, near the end, had some value to it.

A thread of that nature should not have existed for any more than a few minutes, let alone several hours and I think we should look toward some solution to ensure that this is the case.

I think this would be beneficial for the members, the forum itself, it's owners/operators and it's sponsors.

I didn't mean the bs part, I meant where the thread was going. The bs was all over on the first page, and the thread was turning into an actual discussion not a bash fest.

So mister deadbeat poster would have failed in his attempt to bash a shop, as we were turning the thread into a bash on him, with some insight on how this stuff affects CMOC as a whole.

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough for you in my post!
