How much hp
 

What kind of hp are you happy with lets say at the engine. When I had the 05gt I was more than happy with the power it spit out and with the latest one I have really never gotten on it to see what the difference is.:chacha:

I think hp is what you get use to... I would like to upgrade the Shelby's power dunno what it has now but I would love more!
Now my V-Max is rated at around 200hp I don't need any more power with that bike, it truly is scary powerful.
I can't believe you haven't had a good run in your Shelby Snakebite, My god the car is a whole other beast in go to jail speeds! You need to find a track or a closed road and let her breath!

I would take as much horsepower as I can get. The 300hp of the 4.6L 3V is plenty but I'd take more, like the new 5.0. My ultimate car would be a Super Snake with the Kenne Bell upgrade to bring it up to almost 1000hp, not cause I would use the power, but just to say I have it.

On the street a couple hundred or so in an old Fox is more than enough to get this irresponsible old fart in trouble.

300 HP is good fun. 1000 HP does bring AWESOME bragging rights though!

Give me a day or 2 and I let you guys know!; otherwise just enough for your instincts to tell you to let off (600+).

For me, it depends on how you get your hp. I'm old school and like to take an original n/a engine as far as it will safely go. I'm currently about 365 and think I can get about another 30 to 50 hp out of it. That's way more than I need to get into trouble.

That's a tough one. When I had my first Mustang (2000 GT) I was extremely happy with 260 hp. Then I just started adding parts and it went from there. With over 500 on my GT500 I find myself still wanting more. My 04 Cobra was modded (pully/cai/tune/full exhaust) and it also had a 75 shot of nitrous. That car on drag radials pulled hard and I never felt the need to use the nitrous so maybe that was enough. I think it put down 440 ish at the wheels no nitrous. If I was keeping my car I would pully it and port the supercharger and I'd probably be happy there.

Me too 1LOW. I had a buddy that was obsessed with having the fastest car on the street and he drove himself crazy and spent crazy money always trying to be better than the next guy. Problem is, there's always gonna be someone faster, so what's the point I figure. I'm happy where I'm at I'd say.:tup

I'm with you on the Super Snake thing, but I think I would be happy with the 750+ model.:D

Is it having the hp "number" that's best or the thrill of driving the car with that kind of hp?

For me it's the thrill, not the number. You know...that feeling as you're set back in your seat, your stomach flip flops (in a good way), you giggle and you can't get the grin off your face.

yup it is thrill not the number for sure!

I'm the kinda of guy that is always after the perfect running car, never been after big hp numbers, the hp is just a bonus, but if my GT is running minty mint, then i am quite satisfied just with that.
I've always said from the start when i first started modding my GT,.... i would be pleased with a mid 12 second car. Never ever planned to have a huge hp car,..... obviously, look at the route i took to modding my GT..... all N/A. :wink:

It's all about the power to weight. On my car I find 500 was not enough. If I had a lighter fox body 400-450 would probably be good. I don't care about the number, just how hard it pushes me into the seat when I hit the loud pedal.

I like what you are doing. You have a goal and a way you want to get there and to me this is what this hobby is all about. My next project will be a little more budget oriented and I'm looking forward to sourcing used parts and being creative to get things how I want.

Horsepower is like crack... the more you have, the more you use...the more you use, the more you want.

btw......beautiful car you've got! The engine compartment was shining...even in the dark with just the reflection of distant lights. And a sleeper for sure. Wouldn't suspect that much power except for that little bit of a tweak she did as you were driving away. :wink:
