Importing from USA and I want metric gauges
Good day all,
I did a quick search here to see if this was covered, but I didn't find it.
I found a 99-04 GT from the States I am interested in. All of the importation has been done so I just need to transfer title and get it registered and I'd like to get a canadian (i.e. metric) spedometer/odometer for the car.
Can this be done? Do I need to get a canadian spec computer in addition to the gauge?

I'm not to sure if it can be done, but if so,maybe the chip in the back of the cluster could be swapped over as it holds all the info, and pats, and if i remember right, the dealer then has to get the pats to work with the new cluster.
Or just get some aftermarket overlays.A place like Speedhut will make them custom to your liking, and will do them in kilometers for Canadians.I've gotten new overlays from them, and they are great to deal with.

Welcome to the site dude - lots of good deals to be found south of the border and with the dollar so strong it's a good time to look and even better to buy. 'Grats, let's see some pictures!!

Welcome to CMOC. Seems like 1LOW's got you covered ... probably the easiest way to go ... new guages overlay rather than hundreds plus dollars in complicated electronics, tunes, etc. to have the same results.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. I guess I should have posted in the welcome area too. Sorry for the newbness.
You're probably right about importing a car from the States. I looked at importing a car before but never a Mustang. I'll do a search here to find that thread I saw about importing it and what you have to do and how much it costs.

Take a look at these. it would appear it is a direct swap. I know allot of guys with S197 (05 to present) swap out V6 gauges for GT gauges and it works no problem.

Ok I'll take a look.
One of the other things I was thinking of (assuming the car is a manual transmission) is to use an SCT tuner and multiply my gear ratio by the appropriate number so that the speedo spins in kays. I don't know if that would throw the tach off or not though.
