Just call me bone head

Ok here is my dilemma ,, I was in my shop replacing the top on my 97 Mustang 3.8 any how I needed to keep putting the top up and down (I previously removed the battery from car when I painted it) anyhow this is where the “BONE HEAD” move came into play ,, since I needed power I just wheeled over my battery charger set it to 300 starting amps ,, hooked it directly to my battery cables then I proceeded to turn key to the on position and hit the roof switch ,, then I got this loud electrical type buzzing noise ,, now my car won’t start ,, I can hear the fuel pump working so that’s not the problem , the car turns over with no problem either ,, it just does not seem to fire ,, I figured I could save some time if anyone here on this forum could make a suggestion as to what I blew out ,, maybe save me some time ,, is there any other “BONE HEADS” here besides me ? lol .. thanks in advance for any light you may shed on my problem ,, by the way great looking site ,, I plan to get the feel of the place and maybe lend a hand when needed ,, like maybe questions on replacing your own rag top for 270 bucks like I just did etc.

No probs dude - we've all been there at some point, so not so much a bonehead thing as valuable life experience ha ha ha ha. No solutions for you other than a slight cringe and sorry to hear it, hope everything gets back working for you. Welcome to the site.

shes up and running

I found my problem ,, when I pulled the car into my shop I left the keys in my ignition ( like 4 months lol) ,, apparently this can cause the PATS system to trip ,, then I read an article that talked about the “red reset button” located in the trunk ,, I was like WTF. What button!!! Well I went looking ,,and sure enough there it was ,, anyhow I reset the button and the car started right up ,, thanks for the suggestions and offers to help out. guys

Glad you got it fixed, and at no cost either!!

Apocalypse Pony 10-12-2010 05:28 AM

Those are the best kinds of fixes for sure, glad you're back in business with no damage. Thanks for passing along the solution as well, that will probably help someone else down the line that didn't know that, which is what it's all about!
