List your worst mods.......

Have you done something to your mustang that you just totally regret? Was there some thing you bought for your mustang and put it on then took it right back off cause it sucked or didnt fit lol?

Lets here it for future refferance to those that want the same thing but unsure about it.......

I don't have very many

1) Buying my mustang from Toronto. wall:
2) Buying Mac underdrive pullies because I had to machine them done on a lathe since they hit my water pump, and wouldn't bolt on.
3) Buying a GT and not a Cobra. smack:
4) Cant forget about waisting my time wet sanding my headlights, when Im just going to buy a new set.

I will add to the future
MORE TO COME.....

1low03gt 05-15-2007 10:00 PM

Doing the 3.73's before the 4.10's.Total waste of laybour and money.Otherwise,none.

STAMPEDE 05-15-2007 10:42 PM

I still say you should have bought Airride's car complete ! As for me I hate my strut brace ... and my white face gauges !

l8/93lx 05-16-2007 12:00 AM

Pro shifted Tremec TKO and 4.56 gears Probably a few more but can't think of anymore right now

White97 05-16-2007 06:46 AM

Vortech.

Spun a bearing (low oil) and blew a headgasket as a result, haven't driven the car in over 8 months now.

StealthGT 05-16-2007 07:08 AM

Flowmaster 50 series catback

Altezza taillights. (GONE NOW)

G-ForceJunkie 05-16-2007 07:50 AM

Scones 05-16-2007 10:18 AM

With my old 85 5.0 I bought some gimmick that sat in the lower air filter pan to smooth out air flow. Didn't fit right and never made a diff....waste of $20

ylwpnygirl 05-16-2007 10:28 AM

listening to a Ford parts manager that a Shelby GT500 chin spoiler would fit my V6...guess what?....I DIDN'T!

Stang Illusions 5.0L 05-16-2007 10:38 AM

Wow this is interesting, I thought I was one of the only few people to waste money on BS lol
Keep this thread going.....

89notchback 05-16-2007 02:04 PM

I have to say the worst part I spent money on was a Ground Pounder rearend girdle. Installed it, took the car to the track for a session and broke both caps in the rearend. Switched to a MAC and havent had a single problem since.

rk122075 05-16-2007 05:20 PM

Selling my 5.0L and buying a 2V GT.

SInce I got the 2002 GT.....nothing to report yet.

QWKRN-U 05-17-2007 11:57 AM

Solid rear control arm bushings, vibrates like a bastard over 100k
Strut tower brace, wont fit right with aftermarket intake so Ive got all these big holes to look at.
Im sure Ill curse the 6point cage one day but so far so good

thats about it so far, not bad for 12plus years of mods though lol

jibbijib 05-17-2007 09:13 PM

The paint (not my doing), then the fender paint.
Warped 14" american racing rims
APC cone filter without attaching the doodads to the intake pipe before MAF...
Using octane booster at the drags... waste of money.
NOT buying and installing a 5.0L driveline.

SNAKEBITE 05-17-2007 10:41 PM

chapin502 05-18-2007 10:26 AM

awe dang, whats gonna happen the weekend he forgets to wax his car?! this will seem like an opra show; bring out the tissues, and a comfortable chair, its gonna be a long post lol, just playing man.
as for this thread, i bought a set of one peice projector headlights for my 97, looked great, and those projector lightbeems were like two suns coming at you, even on a sunny day. had to always drive with the fogs on, hehe. however didnt fit properly and had to do way too many adjustments to get them in, including cut out a part of the header panel so theyde go in all the way. in the end ALL the adjusters broke off after so much putting them in and taking them back out to get them right. sucked cause they cost about $230. would have been well worth it if they would have fit from the very beginning. ill consider them again for my 04. this time ill try them on before paying!

Stang Illusions 5.0L 05-22-2007 10:27 PM

added a new one to the list lol.

I forgot ........ buying tires that were too small for the rear. ewwww.

Terminal Velocity 05-23-2007 02:26 AM

Throttle body spacer.................absolute piece of removed it a week ago
the intake spacer is fine didnt notice much of anything for gains

anarchist 06-06-2007 03:44 PM

All the work I had done at DaSilva racing that cost me thousands to have fixed and is still causing me issues.

I could have bought a whole other car by now!

Let's see, letting him cut and balance a driveshaft too short and put it in for a few years.
Not machining a brand new flywheel, ruining it on a clutch that didn't fit and then still not machining it and ruining that clutch and the flywheel.

Darkhorse 06-06-2007 10:00 PM

Anything I ended up doing twice or will end up doing again in the future.

White_Snake 06-06-2007 10:30 PM

Well i guess i will put my 0.02 in here.

i bought a UPR shifter, i had never missed 3rd before i bought it....after i missed it several times...its gone now.

buying 18" rims...they look good, but hurt performance...

Buying a USED procharger system...

archer379 06-07-2007 06:32 AM

SNAKETAMER 06-08-2007 05:54 PM

TV...the Southside bars i had were the first version without grease zerks...they would have been fine for a track duty car but, mine was more of a daily driver and I only made it to the track a few times a year.

Stang Illusions 5.0L 09-30-2007 04:35 AM

Any new regrets this summer?

02blkvert 09-30-2007 09:21 AM

I can't think of a bad mod......I have spent nearly $30,000.00 but I can't think of one.....I did my research on each mod....other than modding is a waste of money and time...but you got spend that money on something..lol
