Looking for 19"+ RIMs and Performance Tires
Hi
I am looking for 19" or 20" rims and summer tires for my 06 Mustang GT. So if anyone want to sell a used one, contact me. BTW, what will be the best size to be used for this car? Is this too big? http://villainracing.com/ethan/cools.../05Mustang.jpg Thanks |
18" is as large as I would ever go but that's just me

But if I use a performance tire (thin), it looks too small. There are lots of rooms between the fender and the tires. Look at this, I am using the original 18" RIM with a performance winter tire: http://picasaweb.google.ca/jirong.hu...21489139076818 http://lh5.ggpht.com/_GsJI1jtjTyk/SS...0/IMG_1239.JPG |
Performance tire should relate more to the actual tread design, compound, and speed rating of the tire, not strictly the side wall size.
What you have their is a low profile tire, which unless you have compensated with a speed cal or a tuner, has thrown off your speedometer. You have to remember when changing wheel or tires sizes you want to keep the overall diameter as close to stock as possible. Google "miata tire size calculator" and use that to show you the difference between different tire and wheel sizes. The picture you posted is actually a photoshop, so its hard to say what size it is, I would say 20'' wheels with a 2'' drop would give a similar stance. Check out Tire Rack - Your performance experts for tires and wheels for wheel and tire combos. Sorry for the long post. |
Thanks a lot for the information. Thinner tires looks better for me.
Btw, somebody wants to sell me this set of rim and tires for $2200. Is it a good deal? They are almost brand new. I can't find the stock price for this VIP RIM. Anyone know? I'd go with a 255/35/20 Tire, it will give you more of that low profile sidewall look you like, and be closer to the stock rolling diameter, meaning your speedometer will still be pretty accurate.
$2200 is a pretty fair price for 20's with Tires I would say, as long as it all fits your car well. Did they give you specs on Bolt Pattern, Offset, and all that good stuff? |

I am going with this wheel, 20", but not sure what tires to fit. Based on your experience, which tires go best with my car? I just use for day to day driving, but want the max grip and traction.
