It's definetly going to be some work to fix up the body - but probably much less labour than a full engine swap into another fox. AND this car is clean - inside and out. I'd definetly keep what you've got and work with it. Just be weary of Ford Rangers from here on in. ;)

If it was me, i would look around to see how much a real nice clean 4/6 cylinder stang is, then go from there. If you have a place to do the work, it wouldn't take much to swap everything, just your time.

^^^ Def a nice looking Fox. If you're looking to buy a replacement Fox anyways - why not just grab a 5.0 to begin with?

do I see rust at the bottom?

I know myself i wouldn't settle on anything. I would look for one that has been undercoated the crap out of it year after year. Usually it's those older people that do that stuff............. if they are the original owner.
If it shows no sign of any oil spray anywhere at all, i wouldn't touch it unless it was kept in a nice warm cozy place year after year. The foxbody's are well know for rotting out at the front frame rails, rad craddle, strut towers, "A" pillars, rear frame rails, roof lines around the front windshiled, rear quarters, hatchs, lower door rockers, and floors. The pic you posted looks alright, i can see a few spots right off the hop though like the lower rockers, the rear quarter around the edge of the wheel openning, makes me wonder what else is hiding. Plus, in my opinion, those areas are costly to fix properly. You do not want to spend 2500 bucks on a car that needs a paint job for what you have already seen what will cost you upwards of 2000, and more on top, cause you just might aswell stick with what you got. I know guys that have been patient, and found a sweet deal, on a sweet clean car. Just have patients, and shop around as much as you can, the right one will come. |
