I can see why, as those years listed are from an era that are most comonly, highly modified years to date, plus all those speical editions are in the mix.

Well here ya go, it states that The private agency that tracks losses for the insurance industry said it reviewed Mustang theft data from 1964-2011 and identified 611,093 theft records.

I actually thought the foxes would have been the most stolen as there are still many around and they have know anti theft equipment on them

Interesting. I can see the list containing lots of mid 90's and early 2000's cars because that was when vehicles were hit or miss if they had anti-theft equipment. Things have come along way, heck my F150 thinks I'm trying to steal it a couple times a year and won't let me start it even with the keys.

My daughter had a similar problem with her Brand X car. Turned out to be the after-market remote start system that was causing the confusion for the car's anti-theft security system.
