MT ET Street D/R's vs BFG KD D/R's
 
There seems to be a LOT of people running the Mickey Thompson ET Street Drag Radials. The wifey wants to buy me tires for the Capri for my B-Day, and I'm kind of torn between the two sets of tires.

I think the BFG's LOOK nicer, IE, I think the directional "puck" (like the KDW, not the older style they had earlier) style tread pattern looks more aggressive. I don't think traction is going to be too much of an issue in either instance so what I'm looking for is input on price, wear, wet traction....etc.

Anybody have experience with both brands of tire and can shed some light/opinion/insight on the topic?

The MT's are a softer compound so they would wear faster, and is more likely to call attention from the cops with the tread pattern or lack of.

BFGs are better for wet but the MTs are far stickier and for track use I would say much better. I would think the BFGs would need a lot of heat to get as sticky

I liked the BFG's I had, decent on the track and not bad in rain, mind you the BFG's I had were the old style tread, Nitto suck for traction on the track pretty good in rain and I have not heard many good things about the MT's in the rain but good on the track.


My money would be on the BFG's

Well, the car is primarily a street car that will see SOME track time......... No power adder, N/A.

BFG is the best for street-driven cars, they wear good, and have decent traction in the rain (decent by drag radial standards, of course). The M/T's are said to be stickier, but I doubt it's a huge difference and they suck for wear and wet traction.

Thank you very much for your input! Anybody have a rough idea on the price difference I should expect between the two? I know Nick will give her a good deal no matter which route we go, but I don't want her shocked by a huge price difference if one exists.

I didnt care for the BFG tread pattern sorta looked like a half bald truck tire .....but ive always had good luck with BFG tires on my other vehicles.......price wise i found the mustang shop was the cheapest out here at $235 per tire not sure on the G force

For a street car, I would suggest BFG with no power adder, assuming lower tq, sub 400. I've had a hard time hooking on BFGs at the track on a FF car but have learned they need more heat then what I was giving them. For my own car Im looking at M&H this year if possible, they have decent wear and decent wet traction from what I have read, Ive never tried them but have read great things. Plus the price usually beats an MT drag radial
