New fox body owner
Greetings from Nova Scotia,
I bought a 1988 GT mustang, t-top with no engine or transmission. I had an engine on a stand for a couple of years, and plan on using it. I also have an aod automatic that i was going to use, until i learned how fast one can destroy one, plus, the car is set up for a manual trans. I have the engine cleaned up, and numbers found. The engine came with the factory breather with the H.O decals on top, and if I remember correctly, the engine came from a LTD police package car. The numbers I have located, are as follows:
Behind starter- E5AE C3B
Numbers on the rear of the engine on top, drivers side, partial vin..? - FG23215
From what I have read, it is a 1985 block, 2 bolt main.
I have started to make a shopping cart up for gaskets and parts that I'm going to need. The engine was an early fuel injection, and I'm going to carb it as I have no harness or computer for it. I have started the following list based on a 1985 engine:
VICTOR REINZ101016201 oil pan gasket
ANCHOR2682 left motor mount for hatchback and sedan hard top
WESTAREM2683 right motor mount for hatchback and sedan
Spectra Premium oil pan- FP11A w/o oil level sensor hole
Felpro VS50029C - valve cover gaskets
Does this list appear to be correct? It's from the Rock Auto website,
I'm going to require things like, distributor, depending on which was I go ignition wise
Intake, probably Eldebrock, but not decided
Clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, fork , and associated goodies
Please feel free to advise, or share your experiences. Thank you so much, and I apologize for the different color fonts. It changed while copy and pasting somehow.
Thanks again
