new kinda tires

i got this in an email..
would be kinda neat.

Radical new tire design by Michelin. The next generation of tires.

They had a pair at the Philadelphia car show

These tires are airless and are scheduled to be out on the market very soon.

The bad news for law enforcement is that spike strips will not work on these tires.

This is what great R&D will do, and just think of the impact on existing technology:

a. no more air valves
b. no more air compressors at gas stations
c. no more repair kits

SCAN DOWN & SEE.

These are actual pictures taken in the South Carolina plant of Miche lin. It will be awhile before they are available to the automotive industry.

or is this old news?

for me yes, i saw these last winter on the other mustang club im in, i like the idea, but what about in heat, like las Vegas will the plastic morph, or if it sits for a long time will the plastic just give in to the weight of the vehicle?

i've seen those pics for a couple years now. neat idea, but i'll have to see them in regular use for a while before i buy a pair....i wonder if they'll be able to make a "wrinkle wall" type slick with them. it'd be nice not have to worry about a blow out at the track.

I don't believe that these are "on the market" yet. Likely would be several years at best before they are available to the public.

Interesting concept for sure.

cheers
