Question New Member with "importing" Questions :D

Hello,

I am a new member here and I didn’t know where to post this, and sorry if my English is weak as it is not my first language .

I own a 2013 GT Mustang. I will hopefully be coming to Canada to study in Newfoundland. I was wondering if I could ship my Mustang there as a student.

Here in the State of Qatar we have a car inspection company and what they basically do is check if there are emission problems with the car, breaks, and suspension. The car has an off-road X pipe so they did not mention anything about the Catalytic converters. I was wondering if it is the same in Canada and particularly Newfoundland.

I hope someone knows what is needed for me to bring my car with me if it is possible . Also how much the insurance would be?

Car mods: (in case I need to remove those parts before I come if they are illegal).

Cobra jer intake manifold with revauto CAI.
Long tube headers with off-road X pipe.
GT500 mufflers
Full suspension and drive shaft.
Stage 3 cams. And other transmission parts.

Again sorry for the long post and hope it is in the right section.
Thank you in advance and looking forward to be a Member of Canada Mustang Club .

Every province is different, I'm not sure if Newfoundland does E Tests or not.

Here is some info you will need, NL follows Canada rules when it comes to vehicle imports.

https://www.riv.ca/ImportingAVehicle.aspx

Not sure how long you plan on studying in NL, but the environment is hard on vehicles. After 3 or 4 years as a daily driver in Nl your Mustang will start to show some of the effects.

Welcome, personally, I wold think that for what you would spend to ship two ways, hassles of any sort getting it into the country, wear and tear on the vehicle from winter driving and salt, it would probably be easier just to buy one when you get here.

Then again, I'm lazy.

Not rich, but lazy.

at the moment i am looking at 3 years of studying and maybe a year to work to get some experience before I go back. But since you mentioned that the car will have some effects, I guess ill keep it where it is now But what kind of Effects by the way?

Apocalypse Pony, shipping is no problem but since you and Turbostang mentioned the effects, wear and tear. I guess I would be an international member with my Stang overseas .

Thanks a lot for your help guys. Hope to see you in a gathering somewhere in Canada or at the Drag strip

Honda or Toyota it is then

Here the weather is not forgiving as well, temperature reaches 57c+ not to mention sand storms .

I feel sad though. was hoping to get it there and maybe go to a drag race event ,Have some fun while studying.

The main reason I wanted to get it there is because I wanted to get a short block, after market heads and stuff to " Properly " install. Mechanics here are not that competent.

how much does it cost for a LX in a good shape there if anyone know ?

The effects of winter are more damaging to vehicles than high temperatures.

I'd take some time to look in to where you are going in Canada so you aren't surprised when you get there.

If you are bringing the car so that you can use it everyday - not a good idea. The insurance alone will be astronomical (imported, and you're here on a student visa, and it's modded, and newer)

Newfoundland weather in the summer and spring is perfectly fine for your car, just driving around on weekends, and during your breaks, but it's not something you'd want to drive to school in the winter.

So I say, if you have other means of getting around while you are here, and won't rely only on your mustang - bring it. There is some AMAZING drives to be had out there, and taking your car over the bridge is worth it alone. Treat your stang like it's a motorcycle. If you wouldn't drive a motorcycle in the weather outside, don't drive your mustang - You should end up with it in pretty decent condition.
