new to mustangs
Hey guys, so ive been kind of trolling around on here for a little while now. I finally picked up a fox body mustang this summer. Ive wanted one since I was 16, and finally have one. I have a 92 gt cobra, with a built 351 windsor 5.8L motor. Its street tuned with Quarterhorse and I was told its around 350 whp. One thing im worried about though is the car was originally and automatic but it was converted to a standard. It still has the automatic rear end. I was told I should get it changed. This si just a toy for me and I would love to be able to bring it to the track with the slicks I have for it, but I would like to be able to drive it home after lol. I was told the drive shaft is only a few years old and is in good shape. I really dont have any knowledge in mustangs as I was a honda guy before lol Should I change out the rear end before bringing it to the track or what? I am very lost when it comes to mustangs lol I would love to supercharge this car is I keep it, but want to get it solid and strong before dont anymore to the motor... what are a few things I should look at first?
Thanks in advance

fwiw, the optional gearing for an automatic was 3.27 while the optional gearing for a stick was 3.08
Neither gears are great for performance though so it is a moot point. You want at least 3.55 but more likely 3.73's. 4.11's start getting the rev's up quite a bit even with the overdrive. It becomes more a question of what kind of compromise you want to make, street vs quarter mile?
Welcome to CMOC. There are a lot of knowledgeable guys here. I just pretend to be one

Thanks guys I will keep that in mind! If I keep this car, Its going to be a toy and not a daily driver so it won't play a huge part in which gears I go with.. I mean I would like to be a smooth and comfortable so when I do drive it in the summer its not a harsh drive
