newbie

I just bought my first Mustang, a '95 GT, mostly factory except for the pipes and rims, and beautifully cared for by a young Ford mechanic. Its in great shape and so pretty! Does anyone have any tips or suggestions for a new member (what to watch out for, what not to do...?) I'm learning fast, and lovin' it!,

Jewel, welcome to the site!

First off, those SNs are fairly under powered. A friend of mine with his mint ultra low k (30k if I recall) put down a horrible 160 RWHP.

You may want to consider adding a gear to the car, get some more ummmff out of it.

Any pics of your car ?

Sounda like a nice car, welcome aboard.

Hi Jewel... congrats on your purchase! Look into 410 gears (and a speedo gear to adjust after the gear change)... bigger gears will really wake up your stang!

so I guess this means that the fifth gear in mine and the cobra shifter are not factory for my model?!!! I love my car and I've got a lot to learn!

Heh heh heh ... a little to learn yet. :)

The 5 speed is standard on a Mustang, the shifter knob is interchangeable on all and is not mechanical. When we refer to more gear and 410s we are referring to the gears in the rear end differential of the car (internal). The gears can be had in different sizes and the larger the gear (the more cogs) the more "power" it will feel like (think of the rear cassette of gears on a bicycle - the smaller gears take more push on the pedals to move).

You'll need a mechanic to install rear gears.

Cheers

another girl

Hey allison,
thanks for replying, I guess you saw I'm in Vancouver. I was going to post asking if there were any other girls out there too. Nice car!!! you're way ahead of me, I'm really a newbie, and my '95 GT is way more traditional than your car. Looks like you know alot too, I'm trying to learn some but in the meantime, I'm having a great time with my car and taking all my girls for drives (and any boys who are interested too),

oops,
wrong message wrong time, wrong place...

jewel 08-11-2008 09:21 PM

thanks

Hey skidad,

thanks for being kind I told you I had alot to learn, but I'm loving my car, even relatively untouched. I've always been the one to favour older cars in mint original condition, maybe this will be one of those one day,

Hey Jewel,

I've loved Mustangs since I was little and especially the classics from the
60's and 70's. I've had my car for almost 4 years now and have learned alot from this site and other Mustang sites.

Try and post some pics of your car. There is another site u might be interested in as well. It's called www.stangette.com it's a site for Woman Who Own Mustangs. Check it out! Welcome again and have fun!!

Welcome Jewel....
I have a 94GT witch is the same car.
Don't put 4:10's in it, it will rev thru the moon and get VERY bad gas milage.
I would put 3.73's in it for sure, and a "White" Speedo gear to calibrate the Speedo.
Then a Cold air intake, Under drive pulley's, Aluminum Drive shaft, 75mm BBK Throttle body, maybe intakes, and Heads later on. :)
Good luck, and keep us posted with your mods as you go.
