nitto dr's or bfg dr's?

i keep hearing lots about the nitto drag radials, what about the new bfg drags? i dont know of anyone using the bfg's but i heard that the nittos last almost twice as long, if so does that mean the bfg's are stickier?

I'm not 100% sure of the compound but I beleive that the BFG's are a sticker tire hence the reason for a shorter life.

You got it, differant compond and also the Nittos have more tread depth compared to a BFG and M/T Drag radial. Thus more tire to wear.

BFG:Tread Depth: 1.875, (1.900 as measured)

Nitto:Tread Depth: 1.968, (2.055 as measured)

Quote from Car Craft Mag "with the Nittos and the extra mph they were able to produce. There's also no denying that the Nittos produced some of the best e.t.'s of the test, with the exception of the quickest 60-foot, which went to BFG."

I debated this sooooo long. Iuse (less winter) mine as a dialy driver and the Nittos have held up great. Never used any other so can not compare. I just like them. Agressive tread and stance on the wheel. good luck, hope this helps.

I have used both and the BFG's held my 550rwhp car pretty darn well...and are better on the track

The 315 BFG DR's have a slick in the middle, so are terrible in the rain. Anything smaller, has tread in the middle.

We can get you best prices on either. A Nitto is a better all around tire because it lasts longer and is decent on the track with some good heating...and not too bad in the rain.

If you want a tire that will HOOK, go BFG. I chewed through mine in about 7000km

I have heard horror stories about Drag radials in the wet but than go find out that they had no tread depth left what so ever and were going really fast etc.... .

I guess if you drive it hard in the rain and the wet they are going to slip a bit. I have never had to panic stop withthem but have driven through rain and no issues to date. Peace.

My friend Supercharged 90 LX has BFG DR's on it and it's lasted him all summer. He doesn't drive the car hard a lot. But it has made a few appearances at Cayuga. He swears by them.

I'm sure if you have a heavy foot. They won't last long.

But like Paul said. If you want a tire that will dig. BFG all the way!

what is the price difference between the 2 tires???? are nitto's more expensive?

Another thing, alot of people have had problems i guess with the nitos cracking during the storage months. Maybe has to do with the climate up here. not sure. just a FYI

regarding cracking.

Drag radials are not your common everyday tire. First off...most of you run these tires at a lower pressure than you would your normal every day tires. Me personally...my nittos were always around 20-22 for max street grip. That alone is putting additional pressure on the sidewall of the tire. Less air to stabalize the weight of the car. More flex in the sidewall during cornering, and even when the car is at rest. Also, the drags are a softer sidewall without reinforcement. Again, making it more prone to cracking. Ive seen what you guys are talking about. Ive seen it on other tires as well. This isnt a dry rot condition. Its more cosmetic than anything. Dont get me wrong...I understand that you are like me and have the occasional high speed romp, and are a rather spirited driver, but its not a major concern. Another contributing factor with these cracks is lack of use. Some of you dont use this as your daily driver. These tires dont like to sit still for too long. Low pressure, soft sidewalls, little use, means a lot of pressure on the sidewalls. If you treat these tires like a regular street tire...I doubt you'd see these cracks. Just .02 from the tire guru
